I headed for "Ptuj" in Slovenia..had to pay 35 euros to use the motorway even though I used the back roads to avoid the high price for only 200km of road...Then stopped near Ptuj in a bar with a scottish sign outside so as to find out where I was in relation to meeting up with Pietro(an Italian man living in Ptuj...pronounced patooey"...in case you didnt already know...)
Everyone was afraid there and I wondered why... Storm clouds were everywhere and last year there were hail stones the size of cricket balls and they destroyed lots of roofs, windows and cars...The reason is that they are very close to the Austrian Alps and the ice comes down when there is a sudden change of temperature...I was afraid too now!
The cars were all put under cover, under trees etc and I thought I would do likewise... I met with Pietro and the then rain started...we missed the hailstones, but the next village had the predicted hailstones...disaster was avoided....well for us in Ptuj anyhow.
We went for pizza and a beer and I saw the beautiful small town as the sun went down...
It was a quick visit as we both had to do things in the morning..Pietro was to drive to Italy to (weather permitting) do a sky dive and me to drive to Croatia...
Skip introduction to posts!
The trip is to be the most ambitious of adventures that I have ever taken and it will be independent and I will be unaccompanied. Europe, the Middle East and Asia - at least two sea crossings, 'cartes de passage' for the MG - my own visas, tool kit, maps, Lonely Planet guides, changes of currency, spare parts, camping accessories and a field kitchen - not to mention a healthy amount of whit and invention will be needed.
The date of departure is scheduled for 3rd May. My plan is to update this site on a weekly basis to share the sense of adventure to fellow enthusiasts. (And to give those of you a chance to help sponsor the trip - perhaps a beer for the day or my dinner that evening, maybe even a whole days sponsor.) You will get a mention in the blog, where you will be my spiritual companion for the day.
Introduction
Everyone has a chance to dream - not everyone realises them - this will be my story, my dream.
Ever since I was a young boy I have always liked well made machines - 'classics' by todays standards - I always liked tales of adventure too - the bigger, the longer, the harder, the better.

Until then keep reading, I have my last minute adjustments to make.
