Well i got attacked again by wild dogs on the way to get bread late at night...but threw rocks at the main pack leader and they let me go free...its a bit of a problem here...I thought I would walk across some countryside instead of taking the car.....anyway I arrived in Silivri..no sign of a campsite but eventually I double backed and found one...nice too...its a very family orientated place...I have been here for 2 days and the locals watch the new boy but they have warmed to me despite a massive language barrier...everything takes ages to explain in both directions and I was washing my clothes in the crockery sink for 2 days before I was put on the right track...I waved encouragingly on many occasions before the truth was realised....how to operate the showers...the toilets....I think I am the campsite entertainment but actually I am trying to learn how to use everything properly...
Ii am 50km away from istanbul and will set off in 2 days to find my contact who happens to live on an island that does not allow cars so I have to find a secure place for the MG in the meantime in a busy busy city....
Then a possible change of plan...a big ferry trip by car across the black sea to Rize in the east of the country...this will save on very high petrol prices...but it may not start to ferry until july...I will keep you posted....
Igot a game of football organised with the local scouts team on the campsite in the morning...jumpers for goalposts......
anyway gootta run...they wait for me at the bar....RAKI is being served....
Skip introduction to posts!
The trip is to be the most ambitious of adventures that I have ever taken and it will be independent and I will be unaccompanied. Europe, the Middle East and Asia - at least two sea crossings, 'cartes de passage' for the MG - my own visas, tool kit, maps, Lonely Planet guides, changes of currency, spare parts, camping accessories and a field kitchen - not to mention a healthy amount of whit and invention will be needed.
The date of departure is scheduled for 3rd May. My plan is to update this site on a weekly basis to share the sense of adventure to fellow enthusiasts. (And to give those of you a chance to help sponsor the trip - perhaps a beer for the day or my dinner that evening, maybe even a whole days sponsor.) You will get a mention in the blog, where you will be my spiritual companion for the day.
Introduction
Everyone has a chance to dream - not everyone realises them - this will be my story, my dream.
Ever since I was a young boy I have always liked well made machines - 'classics' by todays standards - I always liked tales of adventure too - the bigger, the longer, the harder, the better.

Until then keep reading, I have my last minute adjustments to make.
